New Year's Eve 2011

 New Year's Eve In Sydney

New Year's Eve in Sydney is the highlight of the Year, what are you going to do? If you still have no idea here are our suggestions for this year.

Public transport is the best way to travel. Visit the 131500 website for details of how to get into the city.

The Fireworks and the Harbour

Every year there is a theme to the night, this year it is Time to Dream. Marc Newson designed this year's theme and logo. The theme encapsulates Sydneysiders' hopes and aspirations and at the stroke of midnight the canvas will be bare, what will you dream of for 2012? A four colours endless rainbow logo represents the broad range of people from different cultures and backgrounds. The rainbow includes violet to represent community, peace, social stability and connectedness; blue to symbolise the harbour, sky and future aspirations; green for the environment, nurturing and growing; and yellow, which epitomises optimism, happiness and a sunny attitude.
The official charity of 2011 Sydney New Year’s Eve is CARE Australia, an international humanitarian aid organisation defending dignity and fighting global poverty. www.care.org.au

NYE Sydney

What's on Sydney's Top Ten Events for New Year's Eve

I know many of you will think, it is week's away yet, and if you are like me you will have no idea what to cook for dinner tonight never mind what you are going to do for NYE! Well to make life a little easier we have come up with ten great events to choose from, out of heaps that will be happening all over Sydney.
NYE in Sydney - Make your Mark
“This year’s theme is ‘Make Your Mark’ which is about each of us making our own unique contribution not just in 2011, but in the decade ahead,” said the Lord Mayor. Thinking caps on how are you going to make your mark?
Brand new “X” shaped fireworks and cutting edge pyrotechnic shapes including lightning bolts, crescent moons, double hearts, bowties and a star inside a ring will all premiere this year, while for the very first time a multi-layered Bridge Effect will mark Sydney as the New Year’s Eve capital of the world. The show will feature 7000 kilograms of explosive devices, including approximately 11,000 shells, 20,000 shooting comets and 100,000 individual pyrotechnic effects fired from barges, city rooftops and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.   So, as usual it will be big!!
