Director Registrations Extended for S+S Sydney 2012!

Opportunity for New Directors!

Short+Sweet Sydney will produce 180 plays in our season from Jan-Mar 2012, which means 180 spaces for directors! The plays are performed either for one week or over one weekend and auditions take place in November 2011.

Directing at Short+Sweet is a great experience and an excellent way of broadening your skills, networking, meeting new people, and putting on good theatre. Those with less experience are still welcome to apply; they will have a Consulting Director working with them on the festival and their Wildcard program is a good place for directors who'd like less of a commitment to stage their work. The Wildcards involve two shows across one weekend.

Short+Sweet is also offering a $5,000 cash prize forBest Director at the festival, thanks to the generosity of Sam Genocchio's family. Sam, who was sadly killed in a car accident last year, was one of the founders of Short+Sweet and its first ever Artistic Director.

There are also around 600 roles for actors. All ages, genders and looks are needed. The range of plays available is immense - with all kinds of styles and genres imaginable written by everyone from talented amateurs to professional playwrights.

Join the team behind the new Short+Sweet Video Promotion

This year Short+Sweet is filming a few video clips to help promote the festival online. These clips will be produced by S+S for the community, so any help will be most welcome!

They have a wonderful array of talent on board already, but in order to make these clips happen there still are a few things they need:
  • a house for a day of shooting, preferably with a large lounge room and a bedroom with a walk-in cupboard
  • a musician who has recording facilities able to play and record a short jingle
  • a best boy to assist the gaffer
  • 2 assistant directors for one day of filming
  • 1 assistant director for a second day of filming
Filming will tentatively take place on the 15-16th, 22nd & 29th October.
If you can help please contact the producer Chris on: 0419 250 367 or cramos@ozemail.com.au

Thanks for your help!
