Taronga Wild! Rhinos project
Are you an artist that wants to be part of something BIG?
We would like to invite you to be part of the Taronga Wild! Rhinos project - an exciting community art event that will bring businesses, artists and schools together to create a spectacular world-class sculpture trail across Sydney, Dubbo and surrounds raising critical funds for Taronga’s Rhino breeding and conservation programs. You can learn more about the project by visiting the official website.
“Already in 2013, one rhino has been lost to poaching every 11 hours.”
International Rhino Foundation
Three out of the world’s five rhino species are in critical danger – the Javan Rhino and Sumatran Rhino are dangerously close to being lost forever. All five species are under threat from habitat destruction and illegal poaching. These majestic mammals need our help now.
If you would like to unleash your creative talents on one of 75 life-size blank rhino sculptures that will be part of the official Taronga Wild! Rhinos trail in 2014, submit your design no later than 23rd August 2013.
We welcome designs in any art form – from fine art to graffiti, new media to mosaic, embroidery to metalwork. Whatever the art form we’re keen to add drama, fun and a creative flourish to the Taronga Wild! Rhinos sculpture trail. If you are commissioned, you will be paid an honorarium of $1,000 upon completion of your artwork.
