JOIN THE RACE BETWEEN NATIONS FOR CHARITY
AUSSIE CELEBS JOIN FORCES IN SUPPORT OF THE MCGRATH FOUNDATION AND LIFESTART
In October this year the Australian public has the chance to run alongside the likes of Laurie Daley and Wendell Sailor and represent Australia in the ANZA Challenge – a charity race to raise much needed funds for the McGrath Foundation and Lifestart.
The ANZA Challenge is a unique and engaging charitable event, where two celebrity teams representing Australia and New Zealand will race around New Zealand over five gruelling days where they will row, cycle, sail and run and then on the sixth day of the challenge, Sunday the 20th of October, the race will come to an amazing conclusion and the celebrity teams will line up on the start lines in Sydney and Auckland with a final 10km simultaneous run between themselves and the finish line.
The Australian team is captained by Laurie Daley and includes McGrath Foundation Friends, Wendell Sailor, the Bondi Rescue boys, Andrew Reid and Corey Oliver and celebrity chef Jason Roberts.
Australian Skipper Laurie Daley said “We’re taking on the Kiwi’s for the benefit of three incredibly inspiring charitable causes you couldn’t say no to taking part even if I’m sure the body will at times!” – I think the best part of its all is going to be running the final 10km in Sydney surrounded by your fellow countrymen and women and a fair few Kiwi-s too I’d say!”.
McGrath Foundation Ambassador and Director Tracy Bevan says with more than 85 McGrath Breast Care Nurses working in communities nationally who have helped more than 20,000 Australian families through their breast cancer experience, the McGrath Foundation continues to be blown aware by the support they receive nationally.
“Events like ANZA Challenge is another example of how the Australian community rallies together to raise funds for charity and we hope that everyone comes down to run alongside their favourite celebrity.” said Tracy.
Di Morgan, the Marketing Manager at Lifestart said the event showcases a strength and determination that Lifestart intrinsically builds into all our programs, services and support systems. Lifestart prides itself on promoting social inclusion for all children to participate meaningfully in our community and the ANZA Challenge is a perfect fit.
“The ANZA Challenge share our values - ones that empower, create partnerships and inclusion within the community for children and families living with disability through; early childhood intervention and diagnosis, and throughout the school years”, said Di.
Spaces are limited for the public so visit www.anzachallenge.com to register! The entry fee is a set donation with the 100% of the proceeds being split between the two charities and each participant gets their own Puma running shirt.
