Dome Bar, Surry Hills - Jazz Night

Had hard day at the office? Do you need somewhere to unwind or take your girlfriend for a romantic night out?  Well I can recommend you go to the Dome Bar in Surry Hills.
The calming ambiance hits you as soon as you enter. The room is dimly lit with candles and chandlers. The furniture is dominantly red with three double leather day beds as part of the main sitting area; you can just literally lie back and forget the day gone by.  The beds brought a smile to my face as they reminded me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the Grandparents all living in the bed.  The whole effect is like being in a Victorian parlor. The waiters and service was very attentive. Throughout the evening they brought round nibbles of Oysters and skewers.  Though we didn't try one of their cocktails, on this visit, the cocktail bar staff were enjoying their work which helped settle you into the mellow atmosphere.  You could choose from a range of bar snack or move to the dining area. We had two main courses. My husband had one of him favourites, lamb shanks and I had vegetarian pasta. Both dinners were delicious and good value. There was so much meat on the lamb that my husband struggled to eat it all. If you knew my husband you would be very shocked at this, as he has a big appetite.
At 7:30pm every Thursday is Jazz Night. The musicians were brilliant, very easy to listen and unwind to.  In fact two girls who were sitting near us, put there feet up, put their coats over themselves and they looked like they were ready to sleep the night away!
So, when you are wondering what to do on a Thursday go to the Dome Bar for an excellent relaxing evening.
