THE MEAN FIDDLER RAISES AN AMAZING $39,113.00 for The Jane McGrath Foundation Fundraiser on 22 April, 2010
On the 22 April The Mean Fiddler held an amazing Gala VIP Event to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation. It was a resounding success at they raised $39,113.00 of which 100% will be donated to the McGrath Foundation.
The event was attended by celebrities including Mark Waugh, Mike Whitney, Gavin Robertson and Shannon Noll who also performed with The Noll Brothers.
Glenn and Jane McGrath were inspired to create a charity to support women with breast cancer and their families in 2002, after Jane's initial recovery from breast cancer.
Sadly, in 2003 Jane was rediagnosed and they realised the importance of having a breast cancer nurse, something Jane was fortunate to have access to for the first time. Someone who could answer the questions only a nurse could answer, whilst also being able to offer the support she needed to unload her frustrations and emotions.
Through her experiences with breast cancer, Jane and Glenn relaunched the McGrath Foundation in 2005 with two main objectives; to raise money to place breast care nurses in hospitals across rural and regional Australia, and to educate young woman to become breast aware.
Breast cancer does not care how old you are, where you live, whether you are a career woman or a mother. Jane was only 31 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She was very passionate about empowering woman under 40 years of age to take control of their health by conducting regular breast checks - early detection saves lives.
Breast cancer is a disease that currently affects one in nine Australian women of all ages and backgrounds.
