Chinese New Year

The Year of the Snake has arrived and the celebrations have begun all over Sydney.  Last Friday, I was invited to the World Square Sydney to see the Lion dancing and have lunch at Din Tai Fung. What a way to spend a few hours in Sydney!

Din Tai Fung is quite a large modern Chinese restaurant. The food is general well prepared and very well presented. It came out quickly from the pristine kitchen. You can watch the team of chefs in the kitchen. They are amazing, they actually look like they are in an operating theatre. The food was very tasty though the vegetarian options were a little limited.  I think the desserts nailed it for us. The mango whatever it was, was very impressive and the favours and textures were just, yummy. The ice-creams also looked almost too good to eat, I didn't try them but the rest of the table couldn't help but demolish them. The restaurant is known for its dumplings, which were very good but as far as I am concern the desserts out did them.

Then we heard the music and the Chinese Lions arrived. They danced their way through the restaurant, one particularly liked the ladies and had to almost be led back outside. Once outside they performed eating of the green, Choy Cheng and spitting it out, much to the delight of the customers in the restaurant.
It was a great few hours, make sure you go out and explore Sydney you never know what you will find.
