The Astra Awards 2010

Last night some of Australia's top stars were at the State Theatre in Sydney attending the 2010 Astra Awards. It was a glamorous night with celebrities like Tara Moss, Magdalena Roze, Kris Smith, Sarah Murdoch just to name a few!
It's the 8th year for the Astra Awards as it celebrates the talent and achievements of subscription television in Australia.
The night was sold! by Selling House's Australia and Andrew Winter who walked away with 4 Astra Awards - Most Outstanding Lifestyle Program, Favourite Program, Andrew Winter was awarded Favourite Personality and Most Outstanding Performance by a Presenter. Shaynna Blaze-Vaughan, Charlie Albone and Andrew Winter were a blaze of smiles as they proudly held the four trophies.

It was an exhausting evening for Andrew who also presented the award for Most Outstanding Light Entertainment Program to Australia's Next Top Model - series 5.
When Sarah was asked what they might do with the award she did jokingly say she might clonk a few models with it! I know the feeling Sarah!
The Weather Channel also won two awards for Most Outstanding Documentary for their documentary titled Forecast For Disaster: The Weather Behind Black Saturday and Most Outstanding News Program or Coverage for The Weather Channel Black Saturday Coverage: 4th - 8th Feb 2009.
Other award winners were Camille Keenan for Best New Talent, Most Outstanding Use of Innovation and Programming went to In The Womb: Extreme Animals, Kiran Gilbert was awarded Most Outstanding Performance By A Broadcast Journalist, Ben Mendelsohn who unfortunately couldn't make the night won Most Outstanding Performance By An Actor (male of course!), Justine Clarke won the female award both for their performances in Tangle. Most Outstanding Music Program or Coverage went to Sound Relief, most Outstanding Drama - False Witness. The guys from Camp Orange: The Final Frontier were very excited to win Most Outstanding Children's Program. Monday Night Football (2009 NRL Season Round 21: Wests Tigers v Manly Warringah Sea Eagles) won Most Outstanding Sports Program or Coverage; I do have to ask why that particular program, it must have been something very special! The Lifestyle Channel was awarded Channel of the Year. I am not particularly surprised this is the channel we tend to watch the most in our house! Not that I have much say over our controller!
I am sure the evening continued well into the night as Ruby Rose spun the decks at the Ivy.
